Federal Resumes
The Federal Resume is your MOST important application component and our most requested service. For nearly 30 years we have been writing, redesigning, editing, targeting and packaging outstanding Federal resumes for all grade level applicants. The Resume Place is the leading expert in building successful resumes including impressive accomplishments, incorporating the best knowledge, skills and abilities that fit the position, editing and organizing content, and packaging YOU. As a result, HR professionals may take an extra minute to read your resume (and possibly rate you Best Qualified*).
Our Certified Federal Resume Writers, and leading experts in the field, know how to package your experience for the position. Your Federal resume can be targeted toward 1-3 occupational series (types of jobs), using the right keywords and skills in one format. This “paper formatted” resume will be successful with human resources offices that are receiving resumes via mail and fax. It may also be converted to an electronic format for online submissions. The Federal resume is typically 3 to 5 pages in length, depending on your career history. We use (and wrote!) the resume styles from the Federal Resume Guidebook and Ten Steps to a Federal Job - outstanding resources utilized by career professionals worldwide!
(*We can't guarantee you will be rated “Best Qualified.” We will review your materials before we write the package to see if we believe the position to be a good fit for you.)
Typical Number of Hours required for full service Federal Resume Writing. (An Assessment/Estimate will give you the real number of hours based on your project.)
- Administrative: 4 to 6 hours
- Technical: 5 to 7 hours
- Professional and Executive: 6 to 8 hours
Resumix, QuickHire, Avue, RecruitSoft, USAStaffing, Cool, other on-line electronic resume formats
We know the electronic resume formats and instructions for the numerous on-line automated recruitment systems managing resumes for federal agencies. Whatever format, agency, automated system and specific instructions you find, we can write the right resume. We know the Resumix system is the “keyword / skill” system, and pay close attention to the keywords for your occupational series. We also know that the accomplishments will make the resume stand out in the stack of Best Qualified candidates. Our Certified federal resume writers are experts in writing outstanding electronic federal resumes. We know how to format the resumes for the most readable, efficient submissions. Your writer will develop resume content to support the announcement duties, qualifications and questions (for announcements that require answers to Job Specific Questions). We will match the content with your questions to ensure that the HR specialist can “verify” information between your resume and your answers to the questions. The electronic resume is in demand by the majority of federal agencies (approximately 50-50 at this point). A successful federal jobsearcher will have both paper and electronic formats ready for submission to the best announcements at all times. It's best to have your writer prepare both versions.
Typical Number of Hours for Electronic Resume Writing (An Assessment/Estimate will give you the real number of hours based on your project)
- Administrative: 4 to 6 hours
- Technical: 5 to 7 hours
- Professional and Executive: 6 to 8 hours
BOTH FORMATS - PAPER FEDERAL RESUME AND ELECTRONIC RESUME:
Regular hourly rate for the 1st version; then add 2-3 hours for the 2nd version.

Private Industry, Government Contractor, One-Page Networking and Retirement Resumes
These resume formats require 1 to 2 pages. We are experts at synthesizing, focusing on the best and most relevant skills, preparing an impressive presentation and capsulizing your career into 1 or 2 pages. A one-page networking resume is critical for current feds who are seeking details, rotations and career advancement. Introductions are best made with a one or two-page focused resume - whether for a job or consideration for a desired team project. The resume represents your expertise, experience and personality. Today's serious jobseekers cannot market their skills and interests without a one-page marketing resume. Keep it up-to-date and build the best expertise that will impress the hiring manager. Once you have a great one or two-page resume format, you can easily update yourself and continue to grow your career.
- Administrative: 2-3 hours (1 page; 2 pages will take longer)
- Technical: 3-4 hours
- Professional and Executive: 3-4 hours
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Statements
Federal jobseekers struggle most with writing the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities and Essays now so popular with the “job-specific question” announcements. A particular announcement might ask for 4-15 narratives or essays describing your proven experience and best accomplishments in this area. This is true writing about your best experiences, accomplishments, and skills. The KSAs are scored and these grades will result in an interview. Time, patience, dedication, and writing skill are needed. Our expert KSA writers will coach you through writing the best KSAs and essays possible. You will provide the examples (we can brainstorm with you) and we will write the narratives to support the KSA language, the job and the mission of the agency. We will write the KSAs at the appropriate level and with an inspiring and realistic tone. Our writers are trained to be your coach; we will not create a draft that is not real for your experience. It is a natural, professional editing process with a telephone interview or development of examples drafted by you with our outstanding “KSA BUILDER.” Once you have a great set of KSAs, you can edit and rewrite these KSAs to fit other KSA questions on other announcements (in the same or similar occupational series). Expert KSA writing can mean the difference between landing the federal job in a timely way or not.
Fees: Hourly rates (above) will apply. Minumum of 3 hours for Coaching and Editing. More details on this service: http://www.resume-place.com/services/ksa.html
